eQuilter hosting Gemstone Quilt artist MJ Kinman

eQuilter is hosting the Gemstone Quilt artist and instructor MJ Kinman,
creator of the wildly popular Birthstone Pattern series, in our new
classroom for her ” Treasure Hunting”  workshop Saturday and Sunday, October
6 & 7, 2018 9 am to 4 pm. 

We still have room in the workshop, and wanted to ask your help in getting
the word out about this quilting celebrity!

We’re hosting these creative workshops in our spacious light-filled 2,000
square foot classroom/studio at the BRAND NEW eQuilter building:

David Taylor Event in Grand Junction

We are THRILLED & very fortunate to have David Taylor coming to do two wonderful classes for us!  If you have never experienced David’s unique and dynamic style, you are in for a TREAT!!!  Not to mention, he is one of the most talented and gifted artisans in fabric and quilting of our generation.  Class sizes are extremely limited.
2-day class will be Saturday June 2 and Sunday June 3, 9:30-5pm at Owls Nest Quilters

Grand Junction Guild Programs – May & June

On May 9, Julie Silber, quilt historian, appraiser, and curator of the Esprit Quilt Collection in California, will present a trunk show called “Show Me! Rare and Historic Quilts” at the Sunset Slope Quilters’ monthly meeting on May 9 at 9 am in Grand Junction. She will also present a more humorous lecture/trunk show at the 7 pm Colorado West Quilters Guild meeting. Non-member guest fees are $10 for SSQ and $5 for CWQG. Julie will lead a workshop the following day on dating fabrics and antique quilts at the Grand Junction Clarion Hotel from 9 to 4. $62 for non-members covers the workshop and lunch. Students will learn about dating fabrics and why one quilt is worth more than another of the same pattern. Bring a pre-1960 quilt to discuss, and Julie will make a verbal appraisal.
SSQ meets at 9 am on the second Wednesday of the month at the American Lutheran Church, 631 26-1/2 Road. CWQG also meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 pm the First Christian Church at 1326 N. 1st Street in Grand Junction.

Award-winning quilter and long armer Carol Moellers will be in Grand Junction on June 13 and 14. On the 13th, she will present a lecture/trunk show at the 9 am meeting of the Sunset Slope Quilters about her journey as a quilter. There is a $10 guest fee for nonmembers. Carol will teach a workshop from 9 to 4 on June 14 at the Clarion Hotel that will feature the importance of value and color placement and the impact that has on our quilts. There may still be space available for the $75 non-member fee, which includes lunch.
SSQ meets at 9 am on the second Wednesday of the month at the American Lutheran Church, 631 26-1/2 Road. Speakers normally take the stage about 10:30 am, but that is subject to change.

This juried exhibition features the current work of the finest national and international contemporary quilt artists, July 6 – September 1, 2018. Art quilts accepted for exhibition will exemplify innovation in quilting and surface design techniques as well as excellence in artistic composition and craftsmanship. The goal of the exhibition is to recognize the world’s finest contemporary quilt artists and to advance the art form. The Opening Reception is scheduled for Friday, July 13, 5 – 7 p.m.with the Awards Presentation the same evening at 6 p.m.

An Afternoon With June Ryker – May 5, 2018

June Ryker is a founding member of CQC and we invite you to spend an afternoon with her and her quilts.
The program will be May 5, 2018, from 1:30-3:00  at Green Mountain United Methodist Church.  12755 W. Cedar Dr., Lakewood, Co.  80228.   
June’s program will be:
                . Quilt History and growth in popularity
                . June’s teaching experience
                . The showing of her quilts and sharing her techniques
Light refreshments will be served after the program so people can talk with June and look closely at her quilts.
 There will be no fee to attend but donations will be appreciated to offset expenses.
